KEN “DUCKY” DERBY

The race committee would like to thank our “starting line” sponsor Holy Rosary Credit Union for there generous support. We would also like to thank our “finish line” sponsor BG Environmental and their staff that set up, waded in the water and collected the ducks as they reached the finish line.
The continued success of this event is due to so many that generously gave their time and expertise to support the Rochester Main Street Program. We would like to acknowledge and thank those that assisted us in the preparation as well as the execution of the race. Thank you to The Rochester Fire Department, Chief Norm Sanborn, the Rochester Police Department, City of Rochester employee Stan Henderson and “Brooksie” who donned the duck outfit to entertain the crowds.

North Main StreetBridge 863 numbered ducks were ceremoniously dumped from a bucket loader off the bridge to begin their journey down the Cocheco to the finish line. The river banks were lined with residents, visitors and Ken “Ducky” himself to cheer and quack on the little yellow ducks as they went over the first falls, then under the Bridge Street bridge to the finish line behind Wyndotte Mills.
